Krešimir Damjanović (b. 1986, Zagreb) is a Croatian architect. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb in 2013. From 2013 to 2021 he worked in the studio of academician Nikola Bašić (MARINAPROJEKT d.o.o.), where he contributed to a wide range of architectural, urban and research-oriented projects, with a particular focus on tourism-related and landscape-oriented architecture. Since 2022 he has been practicing independently, developing a body of work positioned between conceptual architecture, visual arts, design strategy and exhibition-making. Alongside his professional practice, he is active in academia—initially as an external associate assistant at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy in Split, and currently as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb. Damjanović’s projects have also been recognised internationally. He is the winner of the Shinkenchiku Residential Design Competition 2017 (jury: Go Hasegawa) and the 59th Central Glass International Architectural Design Competition 2024 (jury: Jun Aoki (chief judge), Tadao Kamei, Goichi Kamochi, Yoshiharu Tsukamoto, Junya Ishigami, Suzuko Yamada), two highly significant global competitions for emerging architectural authors. He has also received honorary mentions in the Shinkenchiku competitions — 2018 (jury: Shohei Shigematsu) and 2019 (jury: Nader Tehrani, Mark Lee, Lisa Iwamoto, Barbara Bestor, Cristina Parreño Alonso) — positioning his work within contemporary discussions on housing, typology and speculative spatial narratives. His projects and theoretical writings have been published in Shinkenchiku, A+U, Oris and other international and regional architectural magazines. He has lectured widely in Croatia, including at Days of Oris, Days of Architects, the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb and FGAG Split. His work often extends into the field of artistic production, through solo and group exhibitions such as iterations+ (2017) and polarities+ (2023), in which he explores drawing, abstraction, material experimentation and spatial atmospheres. Damjanović’s practice is characterised by a pursuit of conceptual clarity, narrative structure and a distinct poetics of form, continually oscillating between the built, the imagined and the speculative.
