The publication presents the results achieved during the winter semester of the academic year 2020/2021 in the area of research and teaching of the course Architectural Design Studio 3. The thematic basis for RAP3 is the situation that arose after the earthquake that struck Zagreb on March 22, 2020. The historical part of Zagreb's city center and its architecture were particularly affected by the earthquake. The authentic identity of the city center utilizes the morphological structure pattern of its time — the BLOCK — as a result of 19th-century urbanism and 20th-century modernist architectural and urban processes. The fundamental element of the city's anatomical structure — Zagreb's Lower Town block — becomes a compelling framework for considering architectural and urban interventions in the structure of the Lower Town. Under the overarching theme 'Lower Town Block — Restoration of an Urban Artifact,' the task of RAP3 was to explore possible scenarios and models of architectural and urban intervention aimed at the rehabilitation of Zagreb's Lower Town block after the earthquake.
