Biography
PhD. Rene Lisac, M.Arch works as assistant professor at the Cabinet for computer application in architecture, Department for Architectural Design at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb. He is involved in scientific research in architectural design, strategic and urban planning as well as heritage protection. His research interests were, from his early studies and diploma project (2004) to his doctoral dissertation with the title “Guidelines system for sustainable campus planning” (2012) and other professional projects, focused around various aspects of sustainability. From sustainable university campuses planning and inclusive public spaces regeneration design, to sustainable strategies for remote islands or rural and mountainous areas, he is searching for new and innovative methods for introducing new and contemporary sustainable scenarios. Designing processes for integral planning with participative and interdisciplinary approach are his latest research and professional interests. He actively participates in domestic and foreign scientific research projects and has lectured at numerous national and international scientific conferences. He is the author and co-author of plentiful scientific papers and book chapters, conservation studies. He is the designer behind several built projects and has organized workshops and exhibits. As a contestant, he participated in a number of urban and architectural competitions with success, winning 4 awards and five runner ups.
He is an active member of the Zagreb Society of Architects and Croatian Architects Association. He works as executive board member of Zagreb Architects’ Association from 2013-2015, as president form 2015-2017. From 2009, together with Kristina Careva, he authored the initiative “City Acupuncture” which he has been leading since then as one of the programs of the Zagreb Society of Architects. In 2013. the initiative was funded by the European programme “Culture 2007-2013” and in 2016 it won the 20th Salon of Architecture in Novi Sad award in the experiment in architecture category. He is one of the authors and was coordinating interdisciplinary and participative project “Zagreb for Me” in collaboration with the City of Zagreb and Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb, aiming on revitalising 17 public spaces in Zagreb.
He is an active member of the Zagreb Society of Architects and Croatian Architects Association.
